It's a given that serious photographers are serious about the light. Some say it's more important than the subject, but I don't go that far. Sometimes "ordinary" light is perfect to create an extraordinary scene. Flat light, for example, can be great for subtle scenes where bright light would create too much contrast. Arguably every photo on this website could go into this gallery since light is so important, but I've limited it here to images where the light is very much part of the subject itself [click/touch center for captions]
